Howdy!

I need to come up with more creative titles for my blog posts!

This week we continued working on our animal research projects in writing.  Don't forget to come on Feb. 1st, this Friday, to see our writing.  Your student should be busy working on the diorama at home to display also!  If you have any questions about that please email me.  In reading we worked on sentence structure and literature circles.  Math, we journeyed on learning about equivalent fractions and representing them on a number line.  Science, we are still learning about the regions of Georgia and the different plants and animals in the regions.  Finally, in Social Studies we wrapped up Mary Bethune and will be moving on to map skills and FDR.

Don't forget the early release days coming up on the 4th and 5th of February!  Also, we will continue to go outside unless it is below 32, so make sure students have warm jackets!

Thanks to those that have sent in some extra supplies, we are dangerously low on paper, hand sanitizer, and glue sticks.  Although I can not offer you volunteer hours for the supplies, I can count the time spent gathering and delivering the supplies!!  If you feel so inclined or have extra supplies at home you are not using....SEND THEM IN!

We will be starting to collect box tops again, the class would LOVE a pizza party if we collect the most!

Thanks for all your support and have a great day!

Greetings!

I hope you are enjoying this beautiful day off of school, I know I am.  Not really, I'm at home doing laundry, etc.  My family had an exciting weekend of activities and I wanted to let you know in case you are ever looking for something to do with the kiddos!  Saturday my two youngest (ages 9 and 6) went to see the IMAX movie at Fernbank titled Alaska.  They really enjoyed it and while you are there check out the fossils.  I love it when you see them light up because they have learned about some of the things that are at the museum.  On Sunday, we took them to Stone Mountain.  It had been a long time since I had been to Stone Mountain to explore, not just for the laser show.  They have great information everywhere about weathering and erosion, rocks and minerals, animals and habits, etc.....It was a great wealth of information on a lot of the standards that we are learning about.  Enjoy your day off!!
